Good Wine. Good People
The Cork Club, an e-commerce wine company
The Cork Club is an e-commerce subscription-based wine company that offers price transparency and delivers concise, clear information about wine.
Problem
How might we design a wine subscription service for people interested in trying wines but might feel unsure of what to do?
Solution
The Cork Club is a subscription-based e-commerce wine company. Our website has a quiz that lets us gather information about your likes and dislikes. Then, we compile your first subscription box based on the quiz and mail it directly to you. We want our members to feel like wine
experts by educating them about wines, price transparency, excellent customer service, and our guarantee that you can cancel anytime if you’re unhappy with your membership.
Research process
Worries about wine
With our company’s target audience of young urban and middle-aged professionals with disposable income, we needed to understand what they already knew about wine and what made them anxious about purchasing wine. We learned that people are anxious about wine because they might not understand the terminology, what wine labels mean, or what wine pairs well with what food. We also sent out a survey of what people knew and what they would like to know about wine. Below are multiple results of our survey that helped us solve our problem.
Personas
Developing personas was an essential step in our research process. It helped us better understand who our consumers would be and what they wanted.
The Beginning
From our research, we concluded that our service needed to include accessible and excellent communication with our members, flexibility in our purchasing structure and personalizing the experience of purchasing wine. We also needed to have a basic understanding of our members' wine-drinking habits.

North Start Statement
Customer Journey
Understanding the steps our users would take during their experience when ordering wine from The Cork Club was essential. We wanted to ensure that users had positive touch points with each interaction with The Cork Club.
Prototype
My Role
My primary role in this project was to create a mobile application for The Cork Club and show how the user would rate a bottle of wine. I began my process by researching other companies that do similar things with their applications. From there, I could gather enough information and follow existing mental models that do some of the steps I wanted to include. I began by creating low-fidelity wireframes.
Hi-fidelity Prototype
After I finished the low-fidelity wireframes, I was able to run multiple user tests. From the user tests, I got critical feedback from the users, which helped make changes for better flow in the mobile application.
Outcome
The Cork Club was a successful project because of the research and time spent on it. We were able to figure out a solution for users who are anxious about wine. The Cork Club is a wine subscription-based company that is transparent about price, has amazing customer service, and provides clear and concise information about the wine, taking the user's worries away. Good wine. Good people.
